How I saved the world
by
Leo Green, 6th grade
This is the story is about the boy and his brother I think my brother is getting stranger every day because one time he turn the thermostat high and he said I will hurt you and I try to get away from him but it get wrecked and I told him he was possessed. He then said some weird word and I think he was playing with our parent’s ouija board but the very next day and he told me to help him before it get too late and he say find the 7 gems But I was trying to find them i found a clue.
I found a clue and it said look under your house and your will find the portal so I went but I got scared and that portal were a myth and it was hard to believe. But there was a portal. I walked into the portal and there was nothing so I walked even more. I saw one gem. It had a clue on it so I read it. It said “The 5 gems are going to be hard to find. One will be in the death portal. Another was the demon portal and no people can go in it. You will die and I saw a lot of demons I got scared and I was shaking. I saw it and I hoped it would pop and it did pop up! It was red like it had souls were trapped in it. I grabbed it but I did not find a clue. It was on one of the demon’s back. I knew that how to get it and it was strange. I had to distract them but how?
I thought I will have to make A and I need to make a plan about to get it. I did and the plan was I got up to them and ripped it off. Luckily he did not see me at all so the clue was in blood ink. That was so weird and I got scared. The guy was killed when I put on the demon and so I ran out. I was so scary almost fainted in the portal but I need to read the clue. It said I needed say to the demon, “Let my brother go but you need to get the gem and the other 5 gems.
You have to go to the devil kingdom now so I went. I found the gems! I grab them quickly and went out. On my bed was a clue for the 4 gems. It said to go to the heaven portal and you will find a rainbow color gem. You will need 3 more. You have to go to every portal. Some went to the opposite dimension as earth. It is so different from every other dimension. What’s different about the element portal is that there is fire, wind, and water. Then I took a break and I saw every one possessed and it was bad. I thought I was the only one how help everyone but it did seem like it everyone was angry
I went back to the opposite portal. They were happy. I think that Death had to do with the anger. It is his dimension and causes all the problem. I was upset and I felt mad but he want the God gems. I have to find it out right now I think. I can get the death book out of the other dimensions. I found it quickly and I had all his weakness. One of his weakness is light but how do I get light? I am thinking because he can only control one portal but he wants control them all. I can probably can get a light source. The death fireworks is what make the gems. I need to get a diamond cutter and shred the gems first. But I need to go get them all. I only have 3 more gems.
The death portal shall go to the next portal which is the life portal but it is higher than my house. I cannot reach it so I will have to get the ladder. I got it yeah so I need to get the other ones. I need 2 more. I looked into the cave of portal and I found the cave gem. I still need the weather gems and that the last one the Popsicle is the weather. There a lot of bad weather I grab the gem and now we need to get a diamond cutter. I shred it made dust. It was so pretty and I put it in thick paper and circle it into a cylinder. I put the diamond dust and made a cape shape on the top and put a fuse on the bottom and we lit the fuse. I hit him. Now he helps people and everything is changed .
And the hold would is safe and the gems form back. His brother thanks him for saving the world and did you think that the end that not . There is a second story coming soon.

Devine Wild, 8th grade
We have just received reports that a body has been found and pulled from the chasm. Witnesses say that the body is of Al, a low ranking initiate who appears to have taken his own life by jumping off the ledge. We will be investigating this matter further once more information is available. Dauntless initiates are stunned by this turn of events and are taking the news very hard. Dauntless leader, Eric Coulter, has told us that Al was very brave by venturing out into the darkness nobody has ever lived to tell about. He also says no matter how hard he is on the initiates, he cares about them very much. He says this is not the first time this has happened and the last time it did happen he was heartbroken, but not as much as he is now.
Earth
by
Halicia Riley, 8th grade
The Earth is a sphere, globe, fiery hot lava flowing underneath us.
Trees are green and the air is fresh.
Light blue skies with clouds going across.
Beautiful pink flowers during the spring.
Then there are rainbows with a pot of gold at the end on St. Pat’s Day.
On Earth, some places are very old.
Others are being made still to this day.
Sunny, hot days may have a breeze which feels wonderful.
At night, the stars light up the sky making the pictures.
Seeing the stars light up the sky when you are in the country.
City lights are the best way to glow.
The Day the World Went Dark
by
Stephanie Mastriano, 7th grade
Today is the day. Today is the day the world has been fearing for the last thirteen years. Today is the day that the world goes dark. Today is my thirteenth birthday, yup I was born on the day when the government said the world would become nothing but void of darkness in exactly thirteen years. So as you can guess I never had many friends. As many parents didn’t want there kids to become best friends with the Princess of Darkness. I was named the Princess of Darkness in fifth grade.
I am so not going to school today of all days. I texted my friends, the only ones who are not afraid of me, and asked if they wanted to skip today with me, and they all said yes almost immediately. I laughed at their enthusiasm, but also at the same time I was glad that would not be alone today. Today I would need my friends more than ever.
My phone started to ring, Mavon. I was extremely puzzled Mavon never calls me, but then I realized I told yesterday him how much I was dreading today. I picked up the phone with a sigh.
“Hey Mav,” you could practically hear the stress in my voice.”Are you skipping school today?”
“Hey Estella, yeah I’m skipping school today. I checked with my parents and they said that they had a feeling about me wanting to skip today anyway.Do you want me to bring food?” His voice is soft and almost fragile almost as if it were to break at any moment, anyone that really knows him could tell that he just woke up.
“Do I even need to answer that Mavon? Yes I want you to bring food. Cassiopeia said she would bring drinks, and Serenity said that Gale and her would bring games and movies.” I said with a chuckle.
“Okay see you in a little Ella. After I actually wake up, and sound normal.” He said with humor evident in his voice. And with that he hung up.
I then decided to actually change out of my pajamas, which is just a pair of basketball shorts and a extremely baggy shirt with the name of a baseball team, but the letters were so faded I could not read the team name.I change into my mermaid crop-top and jean short-shorts with the crocheted edges. I look out of my window, and see both my parents pull out of the driveway and turn left on the main road. Both of my parents work at the same place, so they just take one car.
I flop onto my bed and relax, but my relaxation is cut short by a knock on the front door.I walk down the stairs, and to the door. I opened the door, and there stood Mavon, Cassiopeia, Serenity, and Gale smiling like it was just any random day.
“Hey girly, okay so I know that you’re down and you don’t want to do anything fun today, but we’re going to the old playground on Mill Street. So don’t you even think about trying to get out of this because it is happening.” Ordered Cassiopeia. Normally I would have stopped this if it was anyone else, but if Cassiopeia tells you to do something, you do it.
Reluctantly I replied, “Okay Cassie, we can go to the old playground on Mill Street.”
“I’m glad you're coming Ella.” Mavon, my boyfriend of almost one year, told me with an adoring look in his eyes. His eyes, I could get lost in his grey eyes that almost looked as if there was a storm, that only he could see.
Then Gale started one of his coughing fits. His coughing fits we’re caused by his asthma and allergies. The bout of coughing came to a halt , and Gale started to gasp for air, his coughing fits never left him gasping, this was easily the worst coughing fit he has ever had. We circled around him, Serenity on the verge of tears, engulfed him in a hug. He responded to her hug by wrapping a secure arm around her waist in a protective manner, and gently kissing the top of her head.
Mavon reached over and brushed the tears that I didn’t even know had fallen from my checks with his thumb.
The walk to the old playground on Mills Street took about thirty minutes minutes. When we got there I noticed Cassiopeia looking up towards the sky. It didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that she was looking at the black clouds that were surrounding the sun, almost completely covering the sun.
“Okay let’s make the most of the remaining light while we can.” Gale stated holding Serenity in his arms.
“Yeah we only have an hour left at the least.”Serenity’s thin voice agreed.
“Yeah, I’m going to not be a buzz kill today. Or at least try not to.” I agreed with a small laugh.
Suddenly thunder erupted, and the black clouds had eclosed the sun and it seemed as though it happened in the blink of an eye. Cassiopeia screamed with fear, Serenity’s eyes were flooded with tears, Mavon’s lower lip quivered as wrapped his arms around my waist, as I cried with a tremendous amount of fear.
It happened just as it was predicted, rapidly. It happened and it felt like it took all of my happiness with it.I reach for Mavon’s hand, but nearly cried when he pulled his hand away from mine. But instead I took off running away from my friends. I ran until my legs could no longer hold my weight.
It was over as fast as it started. The clouds seemed to be alive with evil. Haunting, cold, and bitter, today was the day the world went dark. Today was the day I would never feel happiness again.Today the darkness took over, and there was nothing I could do.
Music
by
Adlee Smith, 8th grade
Music is where I go whenever I feel sad.
Music is the shoulder I lean on when I can’t feel glad.
Music is the part of me that I will never let anyone take.
It’s pure, it’s perfect,
Without it, my heart would break.
Music is my freedom,
Without it, I will be left dealing with treason.
It paints your mind in colors when you feel blue.
When you thought all you could see was grey,
Music provided the whole rainbow,
I bet you never had a clue.
A source of happiness,
Relaxation,
Even excitement.
At the touch of a button,
Press play,
Your day will become vibrant.
The Apocalypse
by
Stephanie Mastriano, 7th grade
One dark and cloudy morning, Molly and her twin brother Dustin left their house and walked up the small hill to the bus stop. The two of them didn’t seem to be bothered by the rain, that was pouring down like a waterfall.
Molly was a tall girl slightly taller than her class standing at about five foot ten. Dustin was a tall boy much taller than his class at about six foot two.Molly had red hair and blue eyes. Her eyes always seemed to tell you she was happy. While Dustin had brown hair and brown eyes. His would seem to tell you was mad, even when he was happy. The two of them may have been polar opposites, but they were so close you never would have thought two siblings would get along so well.
When the two of them got to school, they ran inside the high school to catch up to their friends. They meet up at their usual spot, outside of the locker rooms.
Their friends were Ruby, Lily, Greg, and Jackson.
Ruby was Molly’s best friend as they did everything together.Ruby was a loud girl that enjoyed movies.Ruby had light blond hair with light gray eyes. Her eyes always made people think she was ether happy or sad. Tall at about five foot ten the same as Molly, the two of them felt like they should have been sisters.
Lily was a different story with brown hair and hazel eyes. Her made people think she was trustworthy. She was shorter than the rest of the group at only five foot five. A quiet girl that love to read and write.
Jackson had red hair and hazel eyes. His eyes were usually filled with joy. Tall at six foot one. Jackson played football for the the school. He loved sports like football and baseball.
Greg had dark brown hair and dark brown eyes, that could be filled with anger one minute and calm the next. He was tall at about six feet, he didn’t like it though. He often found himself wishing he was taller. He played basketball for the school. He loved basketball more than school, it would often get him in trouble.
“Hey Ruby, hey Lily.” Molly said as she took off her rain coat.
“Hey Molly, hey Dustin.” Lily said digging through her backpack to find her textbook.
“Hey Ruby, Lily, Greg, Jackson.” Dustin said.
“What do you want to later?” Greg asked scrolling through his phone.
“We could get pizza.” Jackson said as dug through his backpack to find a piece of gum.
“Pizza than park?” Lily asked.
“That sounds fun!” Dustin said “I just asked our mom if we can use her car and she said yes.She just texted me that she just dropped the car off here.”
Crash! The sound was as loud as thunder. The six of them ran outside to join the other students, that were already outside. The fire danced around the car as it burned
“The car what happened to it?” Dustin yelled at the top of his lungs.
“What do think happened? A ghost car crashed into it is that what you think happened!” Molly yelled at Dustin.
“No I mean mom just said she dropped the car off here two minutes ago.” Dustin replied
“Where’s the other car?” Lily asked pointing at the crashed car.
“More importantly what is that?” Greg asked pointing at a something walking toward the school.
Bang! Someone tried to kill the crecher but failed. The figure walked with a slight limp and very slowly. As it slowly advanced toward the school it grew clear that it was not human. . .it was a zombie.
“Guys that’s a zombie! I think I know how it got here too” Greg yelled.
“Well what happened? Why are they here?” Ruby asked Greg with fear growing in her gray eyes. No one had ever seen her this scared before.
“Remember that lab accident at Match Lab in Fairbanks last week well...one of the workers was exposed to so many chemicals at one time it turned him into a zombie.” Greg explained to the group.
“Because that’s believable Greg! Do you really believe that’s what happened!” Molly yelled at Greg. But what the group didn’t know was that Molly knew it was true, because she was there when it happened… she was the reason it happened.
“This is all because Jaylen Match. If he didn’t tell his workers to try to make something that could regrow limbs, than this would have never happened!” Jackson yelled. His voice filled with anger and frustration.
“Will you shut up Jackson, it’s not his fault it’s mine!” Molly cried.
“What do you mean it’s your fault? You only intern there.” Ruby asked confused.
“I’m the one that caused the accident at Match Labs.” Molly cried.
“Hey it’s okay. You're not a zombie. You’re not the reason we're all scared to death right now.” Lily said to Molly.
“Yeah I guess you're right Lily.” Molly said finally not crying anymore.
The fear filled fight for freedom, was all anyone could think of. The zombie was a wave of fear crashing on everyone.
Bang! The sound of a gun rattled through the air scaring everyone. Someone attempted to kill the zombie again but they were not successful. The zombie kept walking toward them.
“Guys I’m scared” Ruby cried to the group.
“It’s going to be okay Ruby don’t worry.” Lily said to Ruby as calmly as she could, being careful not to show fear.
Before they knew it the zombie had reached Jackson. Jackson tried to free himself, but it was too late the zombie had already started to turn him. In just two minutes Jackson had become a zombie. His skin had become lighter than sand, blood on the left side of his face.
“Guys there's more of them over there!” Dustin yelled.
“It’s too late now!” Ruby yelled back at Greg.
“Guys thanks for being my friends I couldn’t have asked for better ones!” Were the last words of Lily. Of anyone in the group. The words seemed to dance out of mouth like a ballerina in a ballet.
The whole school had turned into zombies. There were as many as the stars. The zombies overtook them consuming their flesh turning them into zombies. Those were the very last heart beats that town ever had. Match lab became the source of over ten thousand casualties.
